Alessandro Volta - Inventor of the Voltaic Pile
Alessandro Volta - Inventor of the Voltaic Pile In 1800, Alessandro Volta of Italy built the voltaic pile and discovered the first practical method of generating electricity. Count Volta also made discoveries in electrostatics, meteorology and pneumatics. His most famous invention, however, is the first battery. Alessandro Volta - Background Alessandro Volta was born in Como, Italy in 1745. In 1774, he was appointed as professor of physics at the Royal School in Como. While at the Royal School, Alessandro Volta designed his first invention the electrophorus in 1774, a device that produced static electricity. For years at Como, he studied and experimented with atmospheric electricity by igniting static sparks. In 1779, Alessandro Volta was appointed professor of physics at the University of Pavia and it was while there that he invented his most famous invention, the voltaic pile. Alessandro Volta - Voltaic Pile Constructed of alternating discs of zinc and copper, with pieces of cardboard soaked in brine between the metals, the voltaic pile produced electrical current. The metallic conducting arc was used to carry the electricity over a greater distance. Alessandro Voltas voltaic pile was the first battery that produced a reliable, steady current of electricity. Alessandro Volta - Luigi Galvani One contemporary of Alessandro Volta was Luigi Galvani, in fact, it was Voltas disagreement with Galvanis theory of galvanic responses (animal tissue contained a form of electricity) that led Volta to build the voltaic pile to prove that electricity did not come from the animal tissue but was generated by the contact of different metals, brass and iron, in a moist environment. Ironically, both scientists were right. Named In Honor of Alessandro Volta Volt - The unit of electromotive force, or difference of potential, which will cause a current of one ampere to flow through a resistance of one ohm. Named for Italian physicist Alessandro Volta.Photovoltaic - Photovoltaic are systems that convert light energy into electricity. The term photo is a stem from the Greek phos, which means light. Volt is named for Alessandro Volta, a pioneer in the study of electricity.

It covers several operational aspects of a business, such as order processing, distribution of goods, as well as packaging which are essential for the timely receipt of raw materials as well as delivery of the finished products to the end users. Logistics can be defined as ââ¬Å"The process of planning, implementing, and controlling procedures for the efficient and effective storage of goods, services, and related information from the point of origin to the point of consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements. This definition includes inbound, outbound, internal, and external movements1.â⬠While the business dictionary defines logistics as ââ¬Å"planning, execution, and control of the procurement, movement, and stationing of personnel, material, and other resources to achieve the objectives of a campaign, plan, project, or strategy. Budget Monitoring and Format ( Individual Project ) Research Paper
Budget Monitoring and Format ( Individual Project ) - Research Paper Example The over-expense incurred by the investment specialists would tighten the amount of idle funds left for the company to meet the short term liabilities (Handlechner, 2008). Operational Risk The Money Cares Investment Corporation would face operational risks as the funds required for its daily operations would be curtailed due to the wastage of finances by means of credit cards for obtaining marketing supplies, transportation, and hospitalities. Financial Risk The budget planned for Money Cares Investment Corporation includes the estimated expenditures and the anticipated sources of the revenue in order to generate the future cash flow and meet the future liabilities. As a result of the over-expenses incurred by the investment specialists by the use of credit cards, it would lead to the deficit in the cash flows of future, thereby, posing financial risks in terms of the shortage of liquidity. Actions for the Company to Succeed In order to create a situation for the company to succeed, there should be a sufficient control established along with the continuous monitoring for the budgetary expenses planned for the company. The budgetary allocations are series of actions involving planning, implementation, and monitoring. In order to succeed, the company should construct a system of approval for the use of credit cards by the investment specialist. The CEO and Finance department should ask the clericals of the company to undertake the official work of recording the expenses on a daily basis. The expenses to be incurred by the usage of credit cards need to have a prior approval form a responsible authority. The investment specialists are also to be held accountable for the income generated and the expenses proposed by them. Thus, a proper budgetary control and monitoring system would help the company to succeed (Husson, 2002). A tally of the records will help the company to understand what amount of limit is left to be against the budget plan. This implementation of t he budgetary control will help to prevent over-expenses of the company. Companyââ¬â¢s Most Vulnerable Areas The most vulnerable areas of the company are the financial procedures and instruments used for the funding of the daily operations. This involves the role of the manager and the three investment specialists. The company has chosen to use credit cards in order to access funds required for transportation and hospitality of customers while having expenditures for food and drinks and marketing supplies of its solutions. The absence of a cost control mechanism supported by a lack of monitoring by the company has given a free hand to the investment specialists. The ownership of the investments by the specialists under such a process is under question. Thus, the control mechanism for monitoring the expenses of the company is the most vulnerable area of the business of Money Cares Investment Corporation. The Companyââ¬â¢s Assets The companyââ¬â¢s assets are the short term cas h positions held by the company which help them to service the short term liabilities. The liquidity level of the company helps them to service the expenses on credit cards and other short-term credits acquired by the company. The net current assets of the company help them to meet the cost of daily operations that include transportation costs, marketing of its solutions

Creel notes that until the late 1800ââ¬â¢s and early 1900ââ¬â¢s with the discovery of Chinaââ¬â¢s magnificent marble sculptures and oracle bones, we had to rely on tradition and legend for the knowledge of the Chinese people. Balsara Used to Its Advantage
Explain the environmental factors which Balsara used to its advantage. BALSARA USED TO ITS ADVANTAGE IN INDIA. ââ¬â with clove oil (which has been traditionally regarded in India as an effective deterrent to tooth decay and tooth ache) as a unique selling proposition IN MALAYSIA ââ¬â There was good response to Miswak also in the Muslim dominated Malaysia. Its promotion highlighted the fact that miswak (Latin Name : Salvadora Persica) was a plant that had been used for centuries by as a tooth cleaning twig. It had reference in Koran. Quoting from Faizal-E-Miswak, it was pointed out that prophet Mohammed used ââ¬Å"miswak before sleeping at night and after awakening. ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬â¢ The religious appeal in the promotion was reinforced by the findings of scientists all over the world, including Arabic ones, of the antibacterial property of clove and its ability to prevent tooth decay and gums. IN USA ââ¬â Market intelligence revealed that there was a growing preference in the advanced counties for nature based products. Balsara tied up with Auromere Imports Inc. (AAII), Los Angeles. An agency established by American followers of Aurobindo, an Indian philosopher saint. Eight months of intensive R & D enabled Balsara to develop a tooth paste containing 24 herbal ingredients that would satisfy the required parameter. Auromere was voted as the No. 1 toothpaste in North Eastern USA ââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬âââ¬â The product line was extended by introducing several variants of Auromere. A saccharine free toothpaste was introduced. It was found that mint and menthol were taboo for users of homoeopathic medicines. So a product free of such mints was developed. Auromere Fresh Mint for the young and Auromere Cina Mint containing a combination of cinnamon and peppermint were also introduced BALSARA EXPLOITED THESE SENTIMENTS. In the case of Balsara: there was increased demand for products which were herbal, organic etc from the customers. The marketing mix was designed to take advantage of the same whereby it included natural and herbal products and private label brands to customers who were willing to pay for the same.

The Harmuful Effects of Marijuana - 787 Words
In 2006, A Drug Free Worlds The Harmful Effects of Marijuanaâ⬠emerged in the media. ADFW reasons that marijuana is harmful in numerous ways, including cerebral damage and debilitation to the immune system. Throughout the article, they also try to persuade the reader that cannabis is a gateway drug that undoubtedly leads the users into much harder drugs. When reading this article, one must consider that research to support anything can be found if one searches hard enough, but without a doubt the fallacy of their conclusion is due to their research seeking facts to support an already-assumed conclusion. Consequently, I have found that many of their points simply do not justify their conclusion. One of ADFWââ¬â¢s strongest supporting claims is of the physical harms of marijuana. They claim that marijuana smoke contains 50% to 70% more cancer-causing substances than tobacco smokeâ⬠; however, they fail to mention that these studies are exaggerated and the real fact is that it contains 5 times as many cancer causing agents, but those are counteracted by the THC and CBD within the drug that cigarettes dont contain, a point brought to light by articles like ââ¬Å"Marijuana Cures Cancerâ⬠by Arjun Walia. More present-day examinations of people who are frequent marijuana users show no signs of cerebral damage. Additonally, the American Medical Association has officially endorsed the legalization of marijuana. I find this to be quite a bit more persuasive than an obsolete and poorly
